One
year after his successful debut in Dubai, Belgian sculptor
Arnaud Rivieren returns with a series of new works revealing
a natural progression from his previous variations on
the circle. Made of stainless steel, two collections
are presented; ‘Stream of Consciousness’ and ‘Curved
Duality’.
The first has an amazing feeling of lightness and gives the impression
of having grown organically. In the second collection, Rivieren has physically
curved and shaped large sections of steel into sophisticated curvilinear
forms inspired by his imagination. To reflect the true poetry of form,
Rivieren has carefully enhanced the character of each work with magnificent
patinas. |

the other manipulates and shapes it. |

Meen
Ana – Who I Am |
September
11 - September 21, 2006 |
Nadine was invited to exhibit
at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London as part
of a group exhibition entitled “Arabize Me”.
She has adapted that exhibit for Dubai with a collection
that includes a series of portraits depicting Arabs
from across the region with an eclectic mix of artistic,
creative and cultural milieus entitled, ‘Who
I Am’ or ‘Meen Ana’ in Arabic. In
addition, there are two other categories under ‘What
I See’ and ‘What I Read’, which offer
a highly personal depiction of reality and identity
in today’s world, relying on the inherent contrasts
that exist.

The works of Tehran-born Hassanzadeh
adorn the walls of some of the leading art galleries,
several public collections such as the British Museum,
London, The World Bank in Washington DC and the Tehran
Museum of Contemporary Art.
The massive paintings being shown in this exhibition are from the series
Ashura, Chadors and Pahlavans are silk-screen prints on paper. As a
painter and a poet, Hassanzadeh’s works are often super-imposed
with fragments of his own verses and texts. Mysterious numbers, algebraic
codes and collages of wallpaper are added to his patchwork compositions.
Hassanzadeh who is inspired by both his surroundings and by real events
highlights through his works the diversity, complexity and sophistication
of the modern Iranian art scene and society. Sometimes satirical, sometimes
mystical - the works of Khosrow Hassanzadeh are always powerful and
striking.
